I was really surprised to find out that Paul didn't read Wuthering Heights in high school. I did, and I sort of enjoyed it, but the creepiest parts of the book sadly didn't make it into the movie (like Heathcliff's crazy coffin so that his body could co-mingle with Cathy's after death).

Okay, about the movie though - it wasn't a faithful adaptation of the novel, but I think they took some good stuff out that helped to make the plot more coherent. It had some of the classic overacting and drama of a romantic-period film, but it was pretty good (and much quicker than reading the book in 10th grade).
